Abstract :
In this paper, an Economic Dispatch (ED) model is developed for the system consisting of both thermal generators and wind turbines. The inclusion of a significant amount of wind power (WP) into power systems has resulted in additional constraints on ED to accommodate the intermittent nature of the output. The probability of stochastic WP based on the Weibull probability distribution function is included in the model as a constraint. To analytically remove the assumption that the total WP is characterized by a single random variable, the correlated bivariate Weibull probability distribution is developed to be used in ED proposed model. A 69-bus ten-unit test system with non-smooth cost function is used to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed model.
