Abstract
Simulation and modelling of an electric vehicle drive system using a vector controlled induction motor is discussed. An artificial neural network (ANN) based search algorithm is employed in an input-output efficiency optimization scheme for direct torque control (DTC). Comparison is made with the same method applied to a classical rotor flux-oriented (RFOC) drive
