Abstract
In this paper, we define capacity of watermarking channel and propose a practical approach for evaluating the capacity of watermarking channel. Capacity is defined as the number of bits that can be embedded in an image under the constraints of probability of detection, probability of false alarm and mean square error between the original image and the watermarked image. With the addition of fidelity measure, we observe that the capacity of watermarking channel is neither a monotonically decreasing function with respect to probability of correct detection nor a monotonically increasing function with respect to probability of false alarm. The proposed capacity estimation technique has been implemented and the results are discussed.
