Abstract
This paper presents a novel block-based channel tracking scheme using the Kalman algorithm for MIMO wireless systems that operate in a wideband frequency selective fading Doppler environment. The block-based concept is employed to allow group of received samples and detected symbols to be jointly considered in order to minimise the rate of tracking within a data frame. Preliminary results show that the performance of the proposed ´estimator-tracker´ is bounded by the time-varying characteristic of different Doppler channels and the choice of block-length used within the Kalman decision feedback filtering where trade-off must be achieved. The performances and analyses of the proposed ´estimator-tracker´ are provided in conjunction with its BER results for MIMO system at different mobile velocities.
