Abstract
For many years, a new kind of compact directive antenna has been developed using EBG materials which are well known for their spatial and frequency filtering properties [1] [2] [3]. Generally, these antennas are designed using numerical codes like FDTD [4]. These solvers require long computation time and powerful calculators. The presented method is based on the study of EBG mirror properties and source radiation pattern. We will explain and illustrate this method through the design of an EBG dielectric antenna composed of a dielectric stack.
