Abstract
This paper brings information about efforts of SEFI Mathematics Working Group towards the development of a framework usable in designing a curriculum for basic courses of engineering mathematics. Main ideas and aims of the SEFI MWG work are presented with results achieved in recently published curriculum framework document that are briefly described. Underlying concept of mathematical competencies is introduced in few details and comments on new learning and teaching scenarios for competence acquisition are mentioned in connection to sustainability of acquired mathematical competencies.
