Abstract :
The switching characteristics of P(VDF-TrFE) copolymer films, with a thickness of 50 nm, have been measured at room temperature. The spontaneous polarisation is around 29 mCm-2 and the duration of the switching current varies from about 50 μs to 150 μs for fields varying from 200 MV m-1 to 300 MV m-1. The switching current can be analysed using a domain nucleation and growth theory. The results indicate that domain nucleation may be inhibited by injected charge
