Abstract :
The main purpose of the present paper is to examine teachers´ attitudes towards the use of Web 2.0 tools in their teaching practices. More specifically, it aimed to reveal the extent to which factors such as gender, type of school they teach (primary-secondary education) and teaching experience affect their decision to be trained, to presently use We b 2.0 tools as well as their intention to use them in the future. To this end, a number of 253 teachers (139 women and 114 men) participated in a quantitative research answering a short questionnaire. The results revealed that none of the factors influenced their decision to receive formal training. However, gender as well as te aching service affects both the present use of the specific tools as well as their intention to use them in the future, with men who have few years of service being the ones to employ or wish to employ Web 2.0 tools in the near future. Informal discussions shed some light onto this issue, and the findings are discussed herein.
