Abstract
Optimized Link State Routing Protocol (OLSR) is a table-driven routing protocol in wireless ad hoc networks. In OLSR, a node chooses Multipoint Relay (MPR) among its 1-hop neighbor nodes such that all 2-hop neighbor nodes can be covered by the set of MPR nodes at least once. However, limited retransmission only by MPRs may affect negatively in terms of reliable delivery of broadcast packets. In this paper, we propose an MPR selection method for reliable broadcast. The proposed MPR selection method chooses additional MPR nodes such that 2-hop MPR node can be covered m-times. Simulation results show that the proposed MPR selection method can improve the reliability of broadcast packet delivery with little increment of the number of MPR nodes.
