Abstract :
This paper presents a balanced wideband dipole antenna fed by coplanar strips for ultra-wideband (UWB) applications. It can cover the frequency band of 3.1-4.8 GHz of the multi-band OFDM UWB with a bandwidth of 3-7 GHz for VSWR < 2 . Parametric studies have been carried out to further investigate the effect of the tuning elements W3 and R on the frequency of operation. Simulated current distributions, radiation patterns and gains are presented. The antenna features omni-directional characteristics for handheld devices.
