Abstract
The effect of high-speed networking on the operation of a previously developed paradigm (N.F. Schneidewind, 1989) for the system and software design of distributed systems is presented. The effect of high speed on the several design principles is discussed, along with the following design aspects: use of objects, use of generalized modules, control of module interaction, separation of control and data, and management of state information
