Abstract :
The authors discusses the need for completing preference relationships. He introduces the measure of buoyancy on weak orderings. The principle of maximal buoyancy is described as a tool for completing quasi orderings. The relationship of this principle is shown to the principle of minimal specificity used in possibility theory. Its potential is described for application in completing orderings in default reasoning systems
