Abstract
The author reviews research in fuzzy databases, and proposes an extension of the relation division operator to fuzzy databases. A model for fuzzy information is provided and the identification problem in fuzzy databases is resolved. Three notions are relevant: the concept of nuanced information for representing fuzzy values and the associated nuance; the nuanced division operator; and the possibility of weighting attributes to express data and query pertinence and trust. It is shown that the problem of fuzzy identification with the nuanced division operator can be resolved
