Abstract :
When people (e.g., performing players in an orchestra) are physically constrained from moving hands or speaking, it is difficult for them to operate an ordinary information device. This paper proposes an information communication system that is operated by the user´s sole placed on a hetero-core optical fiber sensor mat. Specifically, messages are created from a series of 4 bits that are generated based on the position of the users´ pressure on the mat. We have built an experimental system, and used it to evaluate two proposed message creation algorithms: one based on Euclid distance and the other on certain threshold values. We have confirmed the effectiveness of the proposed system.
