Abstract
The University of the Arctic (UArctic) is a cooperative network of universities, colleges, research institutes and other organizations concerned with education and research in and about the North. The idea of the emergency management module for an online course is to explain elements of planning resources and skills to recover of unexpected natural hazard events in the northern region. Laurea University of Applied Sciences´ (UAS) part is to create an emergency management module for an online course. It is not possible to protect every asset in the event area, but it is possible to try limiting disaster´s impact to the people and infrastructure. Future series of courses will be helpful to all who want to know more on what one has to take into account when planning and organizing emergency management in the circumpolar North. The course is targeted to graduate level students, and it will be created utilizing service innovation design methods widely used in Laurea UAS.
