Abstract :
This paper reports the performance enhancement of synchronous reluctance machine using split stator winding and direct capacitance injection. Capacitance is injected into the machine through an additional three phase winding that is magnetically coupled to the main winding. The machine was modeled as a coupled circuit to examine the effect of the capacitance injected on the machine parameters. The condition for unity power factor at different load angles is examined. A typical capacitance value at which unity power factor is achieved was also obtained.
