Abstract
A reflective spiraphase-type phased array based on split metal rings with p-i-n diode switches is analyzed. It is demonstrated that this array can redirect an incident circularly polarized wave in the directions determined by reflection elevation angles up to 50deg in a 1.7:1 frequency band with total conversion loss less than 2.7 dB. A full-wave mathematical model has been developed to predict the characteristics of these arrays. This mathematical model was used for the synthesis of the array for X-Ku band.
