Abstract :
In this paper, a technique for tuning and optimization of global system for mobile (GSM) cellular phone antennas with reduced cycle time is demonstrated. The technique includes the use of parametric studies of antenna performance using distributed analysis. A design process which involves full geometry parameterization is described. The method of distributing the analysis across multiple computers is also described and the time savings quantified. Finally, the results of the distributed parametric studies are used with an optimization cost function to quickly find the optimal design. The results of this method are a greatly reduced design time, and a more thorough understanding of the effects of variable changes on antenna performance.
