Abstract
A transversal filter based on distributed amplifier principles is characterized in the frequency domain. It is shown that mixed-mode s-parameters provide a judicious characterization of a filter structure which has the ability of transmitting simultaneously signals in several modes of propagation (mixed-mode propagation). The filter features positive and negative tap gain weight control and its performance depends on the efficient transmission of differential along artificial transmission lines. Results describe the frequency response of a MMIC design for 40 Gbit/s system applications.
