Abstract :
Nowadays, the researches about the IP connectivity for mobile node are in progress. In particular, mobile IP and hierarchical mobile IP are well-known methods for these researches. In these works, mobile nodes are assumed to be always in the active state whether they move to the other cell or not. However, since more than 95% of mobile nodes are moving in the idle state actually, they should change their states first to the active state for location update.Due to the mentioned problem, it causes the power consumption extremely. Even though some paging schemes for cellular networks can solve the waste of power consumption, they don´t consider the high velocity environment. Therefore, in this paper we propose alow power IP paging scheme with dynamic paging areas where the paging areas are configured dynamically according to the velocity of the mobile node. The simulation results demonstrate that the proposed IP paging scheme reduces power consumption significantly,as compared to the basic IP paging scheme.
