Abstract :
One of the major drawbacks of the OFDM systems is the high peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR), which limits its applications in wireless communication systems [1]. In this paper, an improved method is proposed for PAPR reduction in an OFDM system. It utilizes the selected mapping (SLM) scheme followed by an improved signal clipping method. Compared with the SLM-only-based approach, the proposed scheme can offer more efficient PAPR reduction with smaller cost on IFFT computation. In addition, the proposed approach shows lower bit-error-ratio (BER) in contrast with the traditional clipping method.
