Abstract :
This article focused on the architecture of web applications, and discussed how to share spatial information of railways by building a map mashup service. In the end of this article, we brought an instance of map mashup service on Virtual Earth (VE) and a local RESTful map service. In our map service, there are two parts of data (illustrated by Figure 3): (1) Basic map data from VE; and (2) local data from a RESTful service. For the former part data, we used VE API (application programmable interface) to connect the VE map server. For the latter part data, we designed a set of XML (extensible markup language) documents, and connected the documents by URI (universal resource identifier). The two parts of data were combined by mashup technology. This map mashup service put a base for adding other data to basic map.
