Abstract :
In recent years we have seen a great interest in wireless mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs) and multimedia technologies. However, MANETs face a lot of technical changes which make it almost impossible to merge the two technologies. Therefore, providing quality of service in mobile ad hoc networks is a very important research issue. To have proper traffic management in MANETS, we should be able to effectively determine the available resources at our disposal. Therefore a quality of service framework for MANETs should be equipped with reliable bandwidth estimation method. In this paper we propose a bandwidth estimation technique called dual bandwidth estimation method. It uses two common techniques to estimate the available bandwidth. These are the listening method and the hello messages technique. The weaknesses of each of the two methods are solved by the other, thereby making the method so robust and reliable.
