Abstract :
This work develops the design of an adaptive control strategy and its implementation on a lathe to deal with the problem of turning force regulation under varying cutting conditions. The real-time adaptive controller uses a discrete time PID regulator and a hybrid identification method. Simulation and real time results show the effectiveness of the proposed solution. The scheme has good robustness properties due to: the PID structure, the PID tuning method and the easy inclusion of prior knowledge of the system by the hybrid identification method
