Abstract :
The authors introduce an efficient high-speed protocol that works on various topologies (star, tree, unidirectional media) and also on satellite networks. Based on a tree algorithm, this protocol includes mechanisms which reduce collisions and increase throughput. The maximum channel efficiency achieved can reach 100% whatever the propagation delay may be. This protocol is simple, and robust, and has the property of channel transparency. When the load is less than 0.4 packet per slot, the delays do not depend on the number of connected stations
