Abstract :
The presence of a wet, conducting pollution layer on the surface of insulators installed within an electrical power network can affect the performance of the system negatively. It is therefore important to have reliable information on the distribution and severity levels of insulator pollution as well as climate conditions in a region. This publication describes the methodology of setting up an insulator pollution monitoring program for Namibia and presents the first series of data obtained from the test stations.
