Abstract :
The design of a robust helipad detection algorithm for a small unmanned helicopter is presented. A novel normalized wavelet descriptor (NWD) is proposed for invariant helipad detection. The performance of the NWD is compared to the performances of geometric moments and the Fourier descriptor using a helipad image database.
