Abstract
An optimization problem for the continuous countercurrent ion exchange (CCIX) process is solved. The aim is to develop a unified methodology for synthesis of optimal control of multivariable system which ensures integrity of the separate layers for optimization and direct control to achieve a global criterion function in the presence of slowly varying disturbance. The problem is decomposed into two subproblems for steady state optimization and steady state stabilization. The method is based on two layer calculating structure. Matlab and SIMULINK software programs for calculating optimal state, control and output values are developed. The results are given and discussed.
