Abstract :
Innovation has been more accepted by many countries as a driver for socioeconomic development. National economic success is ever more determined by a country´s effectiveness in mobilizing and utilizing knowledge. University technology transfer activities are increasingly important as a source of regional economic development and revenue for the university. This study presents an analysis of the factors influencing the technology transfer output across Chinese research universities. Understanding the factors that affects university technology transfer output may lead to changes in university policies and organizational practices and public policy that will increase the flow of technology to the private sector. The paper aims to examine these factors involved in university-industry technology transfer process and institutions that have emerged to facilitate technology commercialization. Key issues and challenges in managing university-industry technology transfer and commercialization are identified and a framework is set up to provide policy recommendations to the university in emerging economies.
