Abstract
There are several embedded systems protocols and networks that have been proposed in the last few years to support applications having stringent real-time and/or dependability requirements, for example TTP/C, FlexRay, TT-CAN, and FlexCAN. This paper details a process that is effective for designing and implementing real-time and dependable control applications using FlexCAN. How this design and implementation process fits into an overall system safety process is also discussed
