Abstract :
The ability to deliver conformal thermal therapy was investigated for multi-frequency interstitial heating applicators incorporating planar transducers and device rotation. Thermal lesions were generated in excised tissue and the influence of exposure parameters such as frequency, power, and device rotation was studied. Lesion radius was dependent on all exposure parameters studied, and a maximum radius of 18.0±0.6 mm was achieved. This applicator design and delivery strategy make conformal interstitial thermal therapy possible
