Abstract :
The paper shows that it is possible to simulate real processes comprising complex subsystems for investigations that are accurate enough for control system evaluation and design. However, it is noted that practical systems are rather more complex and it is not possible to take into account all factors to reproduce the system down to the smallest detail. Use is made of Matlab and Simulink to investigate the sway of industrial cranes in order to develop anti-sway control strategies
