Abstract
In order to alleviate traffic congestion and reduce pollutants emission, developing advanced Beijing traveler information systems (Beijing-TIS) has become an urgent task at present. Firstly, the current status of Beijing-TIS Is reviewed. It is found that obvious gaps still exist compared with ATIS abroad. After defining the user services, a sound Beijing-TIS framework is proposed. It assembles real-time traffic information from the traffic management department, the taxi dispatch departments the police department, the transit management department and the first aid department to provide general and personal traveler information services through multiple dissemination media. Finally, it is concluded that departments´ collaboration and coordination are very important in the implementation.
