The implementation of the Machinery (89/392/EEC) and Low Voltage or LVD (73/23/EEC) product safety directives has resulted in some confusion in regard to how compliance is demonstrated, particularly in regard to the use of standards and how much the two directives overlap. This paper seeks to address these issues and provide a degree of clarification
