Abstract
The third order nonlinear optical properties of ZnO nanorods and ZnO nanoparticles in water, N,N-dimethyll formaide and ethanol were comparatively investigated by using Z-scan technique under nanosecond pulses at 532 nm. Experimental results show that the structure of ZnO nanocomposites has effect on their third order nonlinear optical performances, and the third order nonlinear optical properties of ZnO nanorods are larger than that of ZnO nanoparticles. The results were analyzed by use of the Maxwell-Garnett Effective Medium theory.
