  • Abstract
Over the last two years Thales Electron Devices (Thales ED) has developed and industrialized the new CW high power klystron TH2178. This tube has been designed for synchrotron sources and specifically for HERA, DORIS and PETRA-III at Deutsches Elektronen Synchrotron (DESY) in Hamburg. The TH2178 is currently in production and the prototype klystron has been running at DESY for roughly one year. This new klystron uses the same technology as the well proven TH2161 and TH2167 developed respectively for light sources (PSI, CLS, SSRF, IHEP, ...) and for the Large Hadron Collider (CERN). The design and characteristics of this prototype are presented here
