Abstract :
Initially the importance and applications on which image tracking is involved are presented. Image tracking problem is stated as an estimation process acting together with digital image processing techniques. The different methods of solving this problem in the literature are briefly presented. The advantage of the window-matching techniques is pointed out. Further, the advantages of introducing stochastic filtering by optimal estimation through the Kalman filter into the window-matching algorithm are commented. The development and implementation of an algorithm which integrates window-matching with Kalman filtering are then outlined. Applications of different nature and complexity are then considered to emphasize the contribution of the Kalman filtering.
