Abstract :
The design of inductively loaded inter-digital slow wave structures (ILID-SWS) using quasi-TEM approach and 3D simulations using the software MAFIA is presented. The design is validated with experimentation and the structure is found to be very promising. An equivalent CC-SWS is designed and fabricated and the ILID-SWS is compared to CC-SWS and to an existing ISM-TWT. As compared to CC-SWS, the diameter of ILID-SWS is less and it gives more power and gain for the same bandwidth and as compared to ISM-SWS it gives more bandwidth and lesser SWS length. However, further works on thermal analysis and focusing structure design will reveal the true worth of the SWS
