Abstract :
We have designed a setup for in vitro exposure to GHz signals inside commercial incubators. The setup is aimed at the investigation of cellular responses to RF signals of biological interest using advanced methodologies. The study is within the scopes set down by the WHO for research priorities concerning bioeffects of RF signals. The present paper describes a preliminary test of the setup using two different human cancer cell lines. The results show that a 24-hour incubation at a 37degC, 5% CO2 and 95% relative humidity atmosphere inside nonenergized waveguides does not influence significantly the normal cell growth and viability of cells. This represents a preliminary indication that the system is valid and suitable for study of cellular responses to RF fields.
