Abstract
Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) have recently gained attention as a fast and flexible vehicle to microwave modelling, simulation and optimization. This paper provides an overview on the possibility of applying artificial neural networks to the process of shaping the profile (radiation pattern) of microstrip antenna array. Neural network based algorithms, due to heavy use of parallelism, considerably accelerates the process. By appropriate selection of teaching data, near real-time solution may be archived. Algorithm has been tested in MATLAB environment using neural network modelling utility ldquoFlex Toolrdquo.
