Abstract :
This paper will report a new value of the fine structure constant a obtained by an improved evaluation of the /spl alpha//sup 3/ and /spl alpha//sup 4/ corrections to the electron anomalous magnetic moment a/sub e/. This will lead to a value of a with a precision exceeding 1 part in 10/sup 9/ when new measurements of a/sub e/ become available.
