Abstract
The preliminary design result of a ka-band, harmonic multiplying gyro-TWT with three-stage interaction circuits is presented. The first stage is coated with distributed loss to suppress the absolute instability and the lengths of the other two stages are limited below the critical length of the corresponding gyro-BWO. A saturated peak power of 540kW with an efficiency of 21.6%, a gain of 58dB, and a 3dB bandwidth of 4.5% is predicted for the gyro-TWT driven by 100kV, 25A electron beam with a pitch angle of 1.0 and a velocity spread of 5%
