Abstract :
In view of a mass production of Peugeot (106 and Partner) and Citroen (AX, Saxo and Berlingo) electrical vehicles, the PSA Peugeot Citroen group has developed in partnership with French manufacturers Leroy-Somer (for the motor) and Sagem (for the electronics) two specific DC commutator drives, the first one (SA13 motor) (Peugeot 106, Citroen AX and Saxo), with 11 kW continuous power and 20 kW peak power (5mn), supplied by a low battery voltage of 120 V, and the other one (SA18 motor) Peugeot Partner and Citroen Berlingo), with 16 kW continuous power and 28 kV peak power (5mn), supplied by a low battery voltage of 162 V. If the duty cycle and in particular the operation at constant power (field weakening) in a range of 4:1 requires attention specifically to the commutation aspects at high speed (up to 6500 rpm) and at high load (200 A). While DC motor control laws are well known, it is quite difficult to adapt them to achieve a driving comfort law. The memory size allocated for the motor control unit (MCU) in the vehicle management unit (VMU) is reduced, because the VMU includes the control laws of the DC/DC converter and charger and the monitoring of the car (dash board, pumps, fans, sensors, etc.). It was necessary to implement something simple. We have therefore established a law linking the armature and field currents to the vehicle speed and pedal request
