Abstract :
In this paper, a broadband coplanar waveguide to rectangular waveguide transition using a truncated bow-tie antenna is proposed and realized in the X-band (8.2-12.4 GHz). The transition is simple and has a broadband performance, where the fractional bandwidth for the 15 dB return loss is estimated to be 40%, almost covering the whole operation frequencies of the X-band. In order to verify the simulation results, two single transitions were cascaded in a back-to-back topology and measured using rectangular waveguide adaptors. Measurement results for this back-to-back transition agree well with the simulation results, assuring us the feasibility of this transition.
