Abstract
This paper describes the application of expert system technology to the design of the feedback control system in switched mode power supplies, producing a complete design at minimum time and cost. Decision support is provided in the choice of control method and the selection of suitable cross-over frequency, and the expert system then proceeds to design the error amplifier compensation circuit to meet the design specification. Performance of the design is validated by the use of SPICE simulation, which is linked to the expert system
