Abstract :
Software products have permeated our life. Our demands for high quality software products are obvious. If we view a software product as the core competence of a service provision enterprise, as the brain of a product of a manufacturer, or as a tool facilitating the running of a business or a non-profit organization, software testing and the test development of a software product independent of its development ought to be very necessary. This paper attempts to analyze the current state of software testing in order to support the claim that software testing can be an independent activity outside of software development or business development realms. As a consequence, the paper proposes a general method of test development to facilitate standard evaluations of the quality of software products and services avoiding any conflict of interests.
