Abstract
The DCM (4-dicyanomethylene-2-methyl-6-p-dimethylaminostyryl-4H-pyran) dye molecule is known as one of the best laser dyes. The photodynamics of that dye and its three fluorinated derivatives in polar and nonpolar solvents using nanosecond and picoseconds spectroscopies has been investigated. It was found the large difference in photophysical and laser properties of DCM and fluorinated derivatives depended on the solvent polarity and consisted of the fluorescence efficiency raise for DCM and fluorescence efficiency decrease for derivatives with a solvent polarity increase. The oscillator model and electronic structure of excited states for investigated dyes were studied on the ground of polarization data. The picosecond dynamics of DCM´s derivatives in polar 1-propanol were investigated, and the times of the solvation relaxations caused by the solvent properties and molecular structure were measured
