Abstract :
Environmental legislation and the increasing customer demand for environmentally superior products (ESPs) are forcing manufacturers to consider the environmental issues associated with their products. It is well reported that companies adopting a proactive approach toward the development of environmentally superior products are likely to gain significant competitive advantage in the future. Implementing design for the environment practices is an extremely effective strategy for the development of ESPs. The paper briefly introduces a DFE tool called DFE Workbench. Further on it presents a case study that has been developed using the DFE Workbench for the purpose of presenting the features and the functionality of the tool
