Abstract :
This paper gives emphasis on the distributed intelligence and agent-based cooperative control systems. The near impossibility of totally centralized control for complex systems was discussed, including the need for decentralized control, in particular, decentralized control using simple strategies. Starting from first principles and using examples from nature for inspiration, the principles for, and future of, such systems were speculated.
