Abstract
A new broadband rectangular waveguide-to-conductor-backed coplanar waveguide (WR-to-CPWG) transition is proposed. This transition combines a low insertion loss ridged waveguide-to-microstrip transition and a membrane supported microstrip-to-CPWG tapered transition. Numerical results in Ka-band indicate less than 0.3dB of insertion loss and at least 15 dB of return loss in a 2.5 GHz bandwidth. Experimental data obtained for the membrane supported tapered transition are in good agreement with numerical results.
